No matter what type of fender you need, we can provide a high-quality solution that will provide safe and reliable protection for your vessels and marinas.

What is Pneumatic Rubber Fenders?

Pneumatic fenders, are also called Floating Fenders, are inflatable rubber structures.Reliant on the compressive elasticity of air, pneumatic fenders by absorbing energy from collisions between boats, ships, or boats and docks, reducing the impact of collisions on the hull and dock to ensures the safety of ships and structures in the harbours. Now pneumatic floating fenders are widely used and recognised in the maritime industry.

Pneumatic fenders are divided into two different internal pressure standards and the standards also cover different performance ranges. It is worth noting that all the Henger’s floating fenders are strictly following ISO 17357-1-2014 standards . In the passed 20 years, Henger has been committed to developing and producting high-quality and cost-effective fenders, aiming to enhance maximize the ship safety and efficiency of offshore operations, providing professional protection for docks/vessels.

Pneumatic Rubber Fenders Structural Drawing-Henger Shipping Supplies

The pneumatic fenders are structurally composed of multi-layer synthetic cord layers and tough, wear-resistant rubber. This provides excellent pressure and cut resistance, even under harsh marine conditions. To prevent accidents caused by over-pressure, over 1500mm diameter fenders are equipped with safety valves as an added precaution .

Pneumatic fenders are easily to install, as well as filled with air can float on water. They can be fixed by pulling ropes or chains on both sides of the mooring and easily dismantled & transferred to another mooring point for use according to different needs.

Henger’s pneumatic fenders are available in diameters from 400 mm to 4,500 mm and in lengths from 500 mm to 12,000 mm. Special sizes are available to request. All pneumatic fenders are available in chain and tyre mesh construction.

Pneumatic fender optional types

Henger’s pneumatic fenders are an important piece of protective equipment for vessels when berthing and mooring and can be customized for different applications. Meet different maritime needs.

Sling Type: The sling type marine inflatable fender structure consists of a rubber fender body, chain, and connectors. The rubber fender body consists of an inner layer of rubber, impregnated cord, and an outer layer of rubber. The connectors are fixed to the towing rings on both flanges of the rubber fender body. The other end of the connectors is used to connect the fender to the dock or ship.

Chain Tire Net Type: The Chain Tire Net Type marine inflatable fender structure consists of a fender ball, rubber tyre, chain, hose, and connecting parts. The rubber tires are connected by chains. Hoses protect the middle connecting part, forming a mesh structure. It improves the chain’s corrosion resistance. It also acts as a buffer, reduces friction between the chain and the fender sphere, and adds aesthetics. The connection is usually in the form of a chain that passes through the ring holes of the rubber tyre. It is connected with a metal ring to ensure the stability of the whole structure. We offer both aircraft and truck tyre options for different applications. They meet varying load carrying capacity needs.

Compared to the chain tyre mesh type, the sling type marine inflatable fenders may be slightly less flexible and adaptable. To address these issues, Henger can offer optional features. For example, they can include extra rubber fender layers to boost energy absorption. Henger can also provide various connector styles and sizes to fit different dock and vessel configurations.

Pneumatic Fender Benefits

Pneumatic Fender offer a number of benefits that make them the fender solution of choice for harbour and ship docking:

Safety and reliability

Henle inflatable rubber fenders are made of natural rubber and several layers of strong tyre cord and are therefore resistant to pressure and cutting.

Durability

Able to withstand prolonged use and repeated impacts for a long service life.

Impact resistance

Can effectively absorb and mitigate the impact of collision between ships and dock, protecting the hull and dock structure from damage.

Good buoyancy

Able to provide stable support and protection when the ship is docking and leaving the harbour.

Strong adaptability

Suitable for various climatic and sea conditions with stable and reliable performance.

Easy maintenance

Easy to install, dismantle and maintain, reducing maintenance cost and working time.

Used In Multiple Applications

Pneumatic Fender have been successfully used in a variety of industries to provide reliable protection in all types of docking scenarios due to their superior performance and flexible design.

In ports with extreme tidal variations

In ports with extreme tidal variations, the draught depth of a vessel can vary significantly from one tide level to another. This can make berthing and leaving the harbour challenging. Pneumatic fenders enable rapid adjustment of vessel height to harbour conditions at different tidal levels. This is done by adjusting the gas pressure inside the air bladder. This helps to improve the efficiency and safety of harbour navigation.

Ship-to-Ship Lightering Operations

Ship-to-Ship Lightering Operations usually involve two vessels transferring cargo at sea. In such cases, pneumatic fenders can be used to ensure that the distance and relative position between the operating vessels is effectively controlled. They do this by providing stable lateral support. This is essential to ensure cargo safety, minimise the risk of collision and improve operational efficiency.

Oil & Gas (Typically FSRU)

Pneumatic fenders are commonly used for Floating Storage and Regasification Units (FSRUs) in the oil and gas industry. They're especially common in the Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) sector. Pneumatic fenders provide stable support in varying sea conditions, ensuring that FSRUs can dock and operate safely and efficiently with LNG carriers. This is essential to maintain the continuity of the gas supply chain.

Temporary Berthing

Pneumatic fenders can provide reliable short-term support in scenarios where short-term berthing is needed, such as rapid unloading of cargoes or emergency repairs. Their flexible airbag design allows for rapid unloading of cargoes. Their flexible airbag design allows for rapid inflation and deflation. This enables vessels to berth and leave harbours quickly. This provides greater flexibility and efficiency for harbours and vessels.
